BEES and WASPS

Bee and Wasp control should not be attempted unless you are experienced!

Wasps sting repeatedly and Bees, even though they die after they have stung, still inflict a nasty sting.

DCPC actively encourage all homeowners to only kill Bees in real emergencies, as they are vital to the environment and all agriculture. Best to call your local Apiarist first before calling us to see if they can come and collect the hive. If the hive is in a wall cavity or roof void this is all but impossible for Apiarist to remove without damaging the building, therefore, you will need it treated,

Most Bees are solitary insects and only a few species are true social insects. In Australia we get both native and honey bees. Also found in smaller numbers is the solitary Mortar Bee found in mortar between bricks. Honey Bees were introduced into Australia and many now form the basis of commercial enterprises

Most wasps in Australia are the European Wasp or Paper Wasp. These wasps are social insects; that live in large paper like nests, which are found in a variety of places in and around the home.

Wall cavities, roof voids, hollows in trees, behind timber retaining walls are just a few nest locations.

In winter the male wasps die off and the fertile queens hibernate until spring when they fly off to build new nests.

TREATMENT

• Cavity Treatment

Treatment involves the introduction of a liquid or powder product into their nest via the entry tunnel.

• Exposed Nests

Treatment involves the introduction of a liquid or powder product directly to the nest. Control is normally obtained within minutes.

Nests such as paper wasp cannot always be removed after control due to the height they can be found nesting.
