SILVERFISH
Silverfish are a primitive, wingless insect with six legs. These insects are white to brown-grey or bluish-silver in colour, are teardrop in shape and measure 12mm -19 mm in length. You can identify silverfish by their tapered body and the appearance of silvery scales giving them ‘fish-like’ features.
These insects like to dwell in dark, damp areas such as garages, sheds, kitchens and bathrooms and are capable of thriving in most climates. You may find them trapped in the bottom of your sink.
They are especially attracted to paper and damp clothing. Silverfish are commonly found in cupboards and in stored cardboard boxes.
SIGNS OF A SILVERFISH INFESTATION
Silverfish are nocturnal and move very quickly. They hide in dark corners and a severe infestation may go unnoticed for long periods of time, allowing for rampant growth. Holes in your clothes or curtains are often a sign.
TREATMENT
You don’t want a silverfish infestation to take hold in your home. Therefore, you need to contact us as soon as you see any evidence of them. If you have an infestation you will need a professional to treat both the adults and their eggs.
We apply a liquid Pyrethrum product (safe for humans, pets and environmentally friendly) to the internal areas of your home including carpets, empty wardrobes, linen cupboard, kitchen and bathrooms.
